Doug Woodbury

Service Manager

Doug Woodbury joined Wayfarer as a Service Manager in the fall of 2012.  Doug grew up sailing small boats on Blue Hill bay during his childhood years in Maine. During his summers away from college he worked on traditional schooners sailing on Penobscot Bay. After graduation he worked for a number of programs that took high school and college youths and educated them while sailing large schooners between the Caribbean and Maine for semester credits at sea. When not at sea he would perform work as delivery crew  to broaden his knowledge.  Doug took a break from years at sea and took up residence in Camden and started work at Wayfarer in 1999. During his early years at Wayfarer he worked extensively in rigging, and was privileged to be a part of a handful of large refit projects. Taking that knowledge to sea once again, he worked in the Yacht Charter business.   Caring for discerning customers and ensuring a positive charter experience further refined his customer service skills.  His natural ability as a communicator, and his eye for detail, helped make his trips an annual occasion for many of his charter guests.  When he returned to the midcoast area, he ventured outside the world of boats. While restoring a property a friend convinced him  to become involved in electrical work. He took his customer service knowledge and put it too work as a Sales/Project manager for a Fortune 500 Electrical Distributor with a local branch in Rockland. Doug now returns to Wayfarer with a unique combination of management experience and service and sailing experience under his belt. He is passionate about boats and equally passionate about Wayfarer and all it has to offer customers.  He is proud to work with the dedicated craftspeople at the yard to provide world class service to its customers.

Ben joined Wayfarer in 2001. He is a graduate of the Maine Maritime Academy with a degree in Marina Management. During his time with us he has demonstrated huge enthusiasm for boats and all things boating.  Ben now holds the position of Dockmaster during the summer months and  represents Wayfarer in the sales and marketing field in the winter.  His depth of boating knowledge and exceptional boat handling skills, in addition to his outgoing personality, make him a natural 'go to guy' for visiting boaters.
